Sytchampton Endowed Primary School

Event - Bell Boating with Year 4

2 July 2013

Year 4 went bell boating on the canal. Everyone really enjoyed the team work and skill required to navigate the bell boat along the Droitwich canals and locks.

It was an amazing outdoor classroom we chanted times tables, looked at habitats along the canal and also the engineering involved in canal building.

We learnt:

  • Teamwork and listening.
  • Co-ordination and balance.
  • The difference between canals and rivers.
  • Habitats along the canal bank.
  • Engineering of the canal system.
  • Navigating locks.
  • Chanting timestables and counting our rowing strokes.
  • Endurance!
