Sytchampton Endowed Primary School

Event - Election Day: Democracy in Action

7 May 2015

Voting is not only taking place across the country, but also in school at Sytchampton.

To give our pupils an understanding of the General Election the children are voting for their own four parties:

Our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils have been working hard to persuade pupils, parents and staff to vote for them. Mrs Williams, our Headteacher said "Hawks Class had a great time running their own election; it has really helped them to understand about the British value of democracy. The winning team will be announced on Friday and they will organise a special day in school. It has been really hands on learning and they all gained confidence from giving presentations in our celebration assembly and promoting their party."

To make the election experience more real for the children, they also visited the nearly polling station at Sytchampton Village Hall.
