Event - Falcons Trip to Smite Farm

12 May 2014

The Falcons class visited Smite Farm in Droitwich as part of our topic work on growing and life cycles. Familiar stories such as, ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘The Monkey Puzzle’ were used to talk about growth and change.

The children were able to go on a mini-beast hunt to find examples of creatures at different stages in their lifecycle and created a plate of food for the hungry caterpillar.

A great day was had by all.

What mini-beasts did we find in the woods?
Looking round the woods.

What did we see in the pond?
Hunting high and low.

We made a plate of food for the Hungry Caterpillar.
I hope to find the catterpillar.

Is anything there?
After our lunch we had a little play.

“I love it here!”
Trying to catch insects.

Can you describe an insect you caught in your net?
