School Aid Donation

January 2016

Children ready to load up the School Aid bus.

Our children have recently had new classroom chairs throughout the school thanks to a donation from the Lloyds Educational Trust. We decided, then, to donate our old chairs to School Aid to be sent to a school in Africa.

Mrs Williams, Headteacher, said "As an Eco-School and proud holder of our sixth Green Flag Award, we felt it was important to ensure our old school chairs could be put to good use somewhere else rather than simply be thrown away. We also donated some old resources and books and we are looking forward to hearing from School Aid about which school will benefit from this donation. We are hoping the school will be able to send us some photos of their children enjoying the new resources".

School Aid build partnerships with African schools to help the millions of children who are unable to attend school simply due to a lack of basic equipment. To find out more about them visit the School Aid website (external link).

Children in Need

13 November 2015

Mr Purdie, the new Key Stage 2 teacher.

Matt Purdie, our new Key Stage 2 teacher celebrates his birthday today and so staff and pupils made sure he dressed the part - today will be known as ‘Mr Pudsey’!

Pupils have already raised £75 with their non- uniform day, but this will be added to with a cakes sale at break time.

In true ‘Country file’ style, pupils have dressed appropriately for a ramble down Cow Lane with parents and friends. The School Council always organise the fundraising events and it was their decision to hold a ramble down the lane behind the school.

"We are a small village school but the efforts of our parents, pupils and staff never ceases to amaze me," said Sharon Williams, Headteacher.

Cash for Schools Appeal: Forest School

1 November 2015

We would like to bid for some cash to spruce up our Forest School area. This press release was sent by Mrs Williams to Worcester News:

Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support

24 April 2015

Members of our School Council and Mr Hewitt's daughter with Paddington!

One of our parents, Mr David Hewitt, is travelling to Peru in September to take part in a charity trek to Machu Picchu. He will spend six days walking the Inca Trail and will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Pupils have supported David’s trek to 'darkest' Peru by holding a Paddington themed fundraiser, and by dressing up in something 'marmalade' coloured for the day! They raised £200 for the cause.

During his trek David will be walking over 40km at altitudes up to 4700m for up to ten hours a day. David will also be climbing Huayna Picchu which is the tall peak that overlooks Machu Picchu.

David has chosen to support Macmillan in memory of his mother Hillary Hewitt who died from Cancer in June 2000. David said "Macmillan nurses cared for my mother and supported our family. I chose to support them because they are inspiring people with tremendously difficult jobs."

David Hewitt is 32 years old, married with three daughters and lives in Droitwich. Anyone wishing to sponsor David can do so via Just Giving (external link).

High Visibility Jackets

13 January 2015

The local company SME Solicitors have generously funded the purchase of our high visibility jackets. We are extremely grateful for their kind support, and Mrs Williams wrote to thank them:

Macmillan Coffee Morning Fundraising

26 September 2014

The School Council's cake sale.

We held our Macmillan Coffee event on Friday 26th September.

The School Council arranged a cake sale at playtime, and parents and friends of the school were invited to an afternoon tea as part of our usual weekly celebration assembly event.

A special mention should go to 8 year old Gabe Jeynes from our Hawks class, who did a sponsored 10 mile bike ride for Macmillan Cancer Research, after a family member was recently diagnosed. He raised an amazing £350.

With the proceeds from the afternoon tea and cake sale we were proud to be able to send the charity a cheque for £550.

In Memory of Mrs Cynthia Evans

10 December 2013

Cynthia and Iris celebrating their retirement with staff.

We would like to inform all families (past and present) and friends of Sytchampton Endowed Primary School of the peaceful passing of Mrs Cynthia Evans on the 10th December, 2013.

We are sure many of you have fond memories of Cynthia's 34 years as Headteacher here. During that time she made this school the place it is today and secured two 'Outstanding' Ofsted ratings.

Her generosity, kindness and dedication to the school cannot be put into words. She truly was a legend.

Our thoughts are with Cynthia's family and also with Mrs Iris Fox; Mrs Fox had not only a close professional relationship but also the closest of personal relationships.

I am only glad that I was fortunate to meet both them back in September; when I invited them in to see the changes we have made. They were delighted to see the happy and vibrant place that Sytchampton is.

As yet we do not have any details of the final arrangements but as soon as we do we will post these on the website.

Sharon Williams, Headteacher

Play to Learn Concert

10 December 2013

Hawks' first concert.

This term children in Hawks class have been learning to play the double bass or violin, with Mrs Pearson from Worcestershire Music Service.

This opportunity to try different musical instruments throughout the year is funded by our School Fund and really embraces our slogan ' Ready, steady, grow'; giving pupils the chance to learn new skills.

Here they are performing to parents at their first concert.

Summer Ball and Auction

18 July 2013

Will Kerton in full flow as an amazing auctioneer encouraging some outstanding bids!

The Sytchampton Summer Ball and Auction of Promises raised an outstanding £4,500 and a great evening was had by all!

We enjoyed a three course meal with wine at the event, held at Worcester Cricket Club.

Special thanks must go to the PTA for organising such an action packed evening. This donation will be added to the £2000 of carpet donated by David Needham at the Carpet Factory, Kidderminster which is now fitted to our library, music and back stage areas.

Luckily the children had made the most of a sunny day on the 12th of July to have a practice!

Olympic Day Washed Out!

Olympic Day warm up.

We all warmed up ready for our own Olympic Celebration on Thursday 28th June.

A fun packed morning was planned but was washed out with torrential rain within half an hour. Luckily most events continued indoors.
